We were so lucky with beautiful Bloodmoons in 2016, we had 7 to be exact and one of them was a SUPER bloodmoon or you could just call it a Supermoon. And so with so many galactic supershows to see this past year, I thought is was fitting to make it our theme for the New Year. I chose to use a harsh full-on blacked out cityscape to contrast the majestic Supermoonrise. This contrast shows us how truly insignificant we humans can be next to Mother Nature. She really is the big Boss around here and I love how she gives us a good reminder from time to time. This Paint Party was held at Romer's Burger Bar in Port Moody and we were lucky enough to sell out. The venue was perfect and the guests were magnificent as always. Again, I was floored at the talent and creativity coming out of this group! Seriously! Everyone comes in saying they aren't artists but they all walk out one. People just need to relax and once that confidence starts to kick in, they begin the paint like it's always been a part of them to do so. And it has. Unfortunately our society is so harsh on talent. We decide in grade school that we aren't good enough at something and decide at the ripe ol' age of 8 that we aren't going to do that thing we're not awesome at for THE REST OF OUR LIVES! That's nuts!! But that's what we're like. So its always amazing for me to witness adults rediscover that spark- that spark to create again.
You don't have to be a Picasso or a Rembrandt to enjoy making some art.
Check out the awesome Unicorn talent!
I have to mention that my camera did not work it's magic and I've had to omit many pictures of great work. For example, this couple above, her painting was truly just gorgeous! She is an artsy girl and it was really obvious with her results but unfortunately my camera was unable to do it justice. This was one that was all ooooh's and ahhhhh's. Too bad I don't have a better picture of it! And frankly, everyone impressed. Everyone.
And when I say people were painting outside of the box, I really meant it, Check out these two paintings that totally pushed the boundaries! One with huge buildings (above) and another full-on abstract (below). Love it!!
Everyone was in the mood for creation!
I had so much fun with this group! What a great way to start the New Year. Happy New Year Unicorns! May 2017 be a year of surprises. xo
